New Desk

Last month I did a post about finding a desk for "my room", you can read about it here  and this month I found my desk!

This is my first purchase from Craig's List and I'm sure I'll be doing more. I even love the finish...so I probably won't paint it.

The desk has a couple of nicks, I think a little stain will fix it up.

I also found this great lamp for $7, sorry no before images. I painted the brass parts green, replaced the hanging crystals, and added this pretty shade.

I made my inspiration board from a very ugly print. I replaced the print with cork board and painted the frame.

The room is almost completed... I still need to finish my desk chair, I bought the fabric and just need to have a cushion made.

Step It Up...The Desk

My next room in need of an update is my little dressing room next to the master bedroom. I call this "My Room" and I have filled it with hand-me-down pieces from other rooms in the house (daughter's daybed, dining room curtains, bedroom lamp...) but now it's time to give it some attention. I use this room as a dressing/ironing/extra bed room. I now need a place to keep my laptop and organize some of my paperwork. My business Vintage farmhouse is coming along nicely, but the basket in the den (my currant filing system) is no longer working.

I really need a desk-nothing too big. I love some of the vintage ones I keep seeing in Blog land. I have had a couple of opportunities to pick one up, but I waited too long and they were snatched up quickly.

Then I need an inspiration board to hang over the desk

I already have my desk chair...$5 at a garage sale. I love the color and natural distressing. I think I'll send this to the upholsterer to have a nice cushion seat made.

My Room

Our home has an interesting layout. It started out as a four bedroom home, then the builder realized the master bedroom did not have enough closet space. They remedied this by opening the fourth bedroom into the master bedroom. This added space works well for me, I have a large walk in closet and plenty of space for all my design books and magazines. Since I have never had my own room before, I wanted to make it very "girly". I actually furnished the room with leftovers. The daybed and pink quilt are from my daughters room. Eventually we will replace the carpet with hardwood floors.
