Kitchen Cart

I bought this cart a couple of months ago and it's been sitting on the porch waiting for me to decide what to do with it.

I like the narrow dimensions, but I couldn't decide if I should paint it or leave the rusty finish...

So glad I decided to paint it!

 

 

Office Redo

We have started the office redo, and I have one piece of furniture completed.

This Drexel campaign dresser was in bad shape. The revamp was an easy fix, once I removed all that hardware. High gloss spray paint covered all the years of wear.

We will paint the bookcase white and add molding to make it part of the architecture. I still have not decided on the floor...I'm thinking of laying carpet tiles.

The desk is almost ready and I've been collecting lots of fun accessories. The room is taking longer than expected but I'm anxious to get this completed...hubby needs a completed office!

Shop Updates

I have added some smaller items and more painted pieces. My space is finally starting to look pulled together. I am still on the look out for shutters or old doors to add some height and have a place to hang things. We have very strict rules on the items we can sell, everything in the booth has to be older than 1965 and everything has to be for sale (no display only pieces).

More Stripes

I like stripes and I think they look great on this vintage dresser... with very little going for it other than those cute little legs with wheels.  I've rolled this into the shop and it's for sale, actually all my striped furniture I've painted is for sale. I'll now be painting stripes on something I don't plan to sell!

Sorry about the glare, but I'm happy whenever I remember to take a "before" picture and those bright eyes belong to Jasper. Jasper is our very vocal four legged family member and yes his eyes are usually huge.

I love how they turned out and now want to paint stripes on everything!

Tango Tangerine

This color is not actually Tango Tangerine, Pantone's 2012 color of the year. I made it using left over orange and raspberry paint.

It started as an ordinary vintage side table with a bad finish.

Jen's Hutch

The hutch is finished! I wish I had a prettier place to photograph this, but it's six feet wide and over six and a half feet high, so the garage is where it's staying until pick up time.

Remember the "before"...

I was going to leave it this color and use a clear protective coating, but it lacked some warmth and character. I did a little experiment and it came out great. I decided in order to get just a hint of dark glaze I needed to thin it out. I use a water based product and just added more water, actually a lot more water. Then I rubbed the "dirty water" looking stuff all over the piece.

This is the table Jen and her little boy painted and the inspiration for the hutch color.

Side Table Revamp

It seems like I always have a small item in the middle of a revamp...

I had already removed the hardware and sanded the top before I remembered to take a photo.

These pictures do not do the turquoise color justice, it's my new favorite color...

Also the top refinished beautifully, this is a quality piece of furniture found at Goodwill for $30.

French Tables

I'm getting more projects done and out of my basement. I've decided my favorite things to paint are small side tables and large hutches. The small tables are fun because you can go crazy with color and I love the difference a little color adds to a large hutch.

I completed a set of french style end tables and I tried a little something different by adding the yellow.

"Fifi"

My daughter needed a larger bedside table...and I happened to have one in need of a revamp...

My daughter chose the color orange, not apricot or terra cotta, she wanted traffic cone orange. I love color and a challenge...but this was UGLY after I painted, so I really worked on the distressing. I like the way the paint came off in chunks. I then dry brushed pink paint and added a dark glaze.

She now looks very Parisian, so we named her "Fifi".

What a sad little chest...missing knobs, lots of scratches and a drawer that wouldn't open.
