Finishing up Projects

I finished up a couple of projects for my shop. These vintage metal chairs just needed new seats, an easy project that took me way too much time to complete.

This table is my first "white" painted piece. I love color and find white a little boring, but I wanted to show off the great rusted metal feet with the crystal balls. The color is actually "Linen" and I love it.... I think I'll be painting a few more pieces with it.

Chairs, Chairs, Chairs

Surprise! I found some "new" vintage chairs...yes I have a problem, but check these fabulous pieces out.

This is actually a counter stool, I now need to find another unique piece and I can replace my current "average" looking stools. (the price for this...$0)

I found 2 of these wrought iron garden chairs at the antique mall. I plan on using them as dining chairs...I know they don't look like they would be very comfortable, but see the circle on the back and the screw holes...I'm going to upholster them. I can't wait to get this project done.

Then yesterday at the thrift shop, I found 4 of these vintage iron chairs.

I need to recover the seat cushions, maybe something with a 50's look. I will be selling these (I need to make some money to supply my "chair addiction").

Shop Updates

I have added some smaller items and more painted pieces. My space is finally starting to look pulled together. I am still on the look out for shutters or old doors to add some height and have a place to hang things. We have very strict rules on the items we can sell, everything in the booth has to be older than 1965 and everything has to be for sale (no display only pieces).

Vintage Lamps

I have three items that I can't seem to get enough of when I'm out shopping for "home stuff". Mentally I know I really don't need it and possibly have absolutely no room for it, but the heart wants what the heart wants...I'm hoping having my shop will cure the clutter.

The three items are new pillows, vintage chairs and lamps. I've posted about my chair obsession in the past (have a few more to show later). The vintage lamp craze is a new obsession. Maybe it has been all the blog posts and magazine articles regarding "ugly" lamps. I happen to love "ugly" lamps (beauty is in the eye of the beholder).

I'm on the fence with these figure lamps, I keep thinking they would look spectacular with new shades and in the right setting...

My favorite style are these vintage glass lamps. I have seen them in amber, red, green and clear glass.

Thrifting

These chairs just need to be cleaned up and then I'm bringing them to my shop.

So...I bought a desk, mirror and two antique chairs for less than $50...a great thrifting weekend!

More Stripes

I like stripes and I think they look great on this vintage dresser... with very little going for it other than those cute little legs with wheels.  I've rolled this into the shop and it's for sale, actually all my striped furniture I've painted is for sale. I'll now be painting stripes on something I don't plan to sell!

Sorry about the glare, but I'm happy whenever I remember to take a "before" picture and those bright eyes belong to Jasper. Jasper is our very vocal four legged family member and yes his eyes are usually huge.

My Own Shop

(Fort Andros)

I finally took a little step toward opening my own shop. I decided to start small and applied for a rental space at Cabot Antiques in Fort Andros. I thought I would have a couple of months to hear back, but after a couple of weeks I was offered a space available February 1st. I've been working like a crazy lady painting enough items to fill my new 8'x10' antiques space. It has been so much fun trying out new paint techniques and paint colors.

This is my space before I moved in, it looks so BIG...

Almost all moved in, I call it "antiques with attitude".  My booth is more colorful than the others but I still need to add some accessories because it looks a little bare

Stripes

I finally revamped some furniture with stripes...

I love how they turned out and now want to paint stripes on everything!
