I love the colors of this bedroom...

green and yellow with touches of pink and blue. The Bamboo is a nice addition.

Room Reveal

My daughter Morgan's room is finished. The floors were the finishing touch. Morgan chose everything in the room from the peacock blue wall paint to the distressed looking floor boards, she created all the art, took all the photos and picked out all the furnishings and accessories.

We made the headboard with plywood, batting and chenille fabric attached to the wall

Jasper loves the bed

I found these vintage curtains at the Salvation Army and Morgan thought they would be perfect for her room.

I almost passed up this mirror with a broken frame and a gold finish. What a difference a little green spray paint can do.

We like how the floors turned out, but the real test will be how they wear. I should also mention these are not for the perfectionist (we used pennies as spacers where we could, but some of the spaces are wider than we like). I think I may use this idea in the guest room (currently my son's bedroom).

Room Revamp

We had a busy weekend finishing up my daughter's bedroom. I promised her a while back we would rip out the ugly wall to wall carpet and put in wood floors. Have I ever mentioned I HATE carpet?! Nasty stuff...even though the room was regularly vacuumed, we had dust and dirt piles everywhere.

Morgan is an artist and her bedroom is her canvas. She has done a wonderful job putting her personal stamp on the room. So she was up to doing a little experiment on the flooring. Frugal Farmhouse Design had a "how to" post on installing plywood plank flooring. This is an inexpensive, easy way to get  the look of old worn wood floors.

We moved the furniture as we layed the floor...

after ripping out the carpet, we had to remove hundreds of staples...

Embellishing a Wall

I am an artist wanna be! I love artist's homes, with a mish mash of items and spontaneous designs. It always looks thrown together, willy nilly, with beautiful results.

I have a small wall in my bedroom that was screaming for a little attention, so I pulled out my inner artist and began painting...RED! I used some left over furniture paint...bad idea! I must have put on 4 coats or more and still not good coverage, then I decided to use this great pink/red paint for stripes...love the color, but I ran out of paint...UGH! So it took a couple of days to get more and I left the tape on...not a good idea, because I no longer have straight lines... finally my little artsy wall project is done...kinda.

Sorry about the glare. I still need to do touch up painting and I'm still playing musical tables.

The Bed

When it comes to creating a beautiful bedroom, it's all about the bed.

I love lots of pillows, plenty of personal touches, and a bit of color.

Master Bedroom

The bedroom is usually the last room completed. The excuse is no one sees it, although we spend a good portion of our lives in it. I wanted this room to feel warm and cozy, inviting for the long Maine winter. I started once again with the color. The walls are painted apricot, the same color I used in our last home. I fell in love with the red printed window panels (on clearance from Country Curtains). The furniture in this room is from a set, something I normally stay away from. We were living in Germany and needed clothing storage. German homes do not have closets?? So the set served a need. I'll eventually change things up a bit, but at this time it all works for us.
