"Everything old is new again"

Last weekend was our local library book sale and every year I find some fabulouse books. My favorites are vintage design books...

Can you believe these books were published in 1960 and 1970? So many of these ideas are still fresh for today...painted furniture, animal skin rugs and room colors in orange, red and turquoise.

...and then there are some things that should stay in the 60's and 70's!

The local newspaper featured a new designer show house...and it looks to be full of inspiration.

Dutch Colonial

There is something about this Dutch Colonial home...I like the Asian pieces, coral and sea shells. The black painted furniture really adds drama to all the pastel shades.

Office Redo

We have started the office redo, and I have one piece of furniture completed.

This Drexel campaign dresser was in bad shape. The revamp was an easy fix, once I removed all that hardware. High gloss spray paint covered all the years of wear.

We will paint the bookcase white and add molding to make it part of the architecture. I still have not decided on the floor...I'm thinking of laying carpet tiles.

The desk is almost ready and I've been collecting lots of fun accessories. The room is taking longer than expected but I'm anxious to get this completed...hubby needs a completed office!

"I Brake for Yard Sales"

"I Brake for Yard Sales" is a new book by Lara Spencer, yes the Lara Spencer co anchor for Good Morning America. Who knew she was a designer!?

The book really doesn't have any new info for seasoned thrift shoppers...we know what great items can be found, but the images of her rooms are fabulous

The rooms are filled with an eclectic assortment of yard sale finds. I definitely recommend this book filled with inspiration.

Spice Colors

Curry, cinnamon and cayenne red are a few color names in this warm cozy home. I like the pattern on pattern layers with animal prints, damasks, ethnic weaves, stripes and paisley prints.

I love the undecorated look of this home...nothing too predictable and all the elements look as if they have been added over the years. This home is filled with personality.
