Vintage Dress Form

I didn't even realize I wanted one of these until I found one...

My adjustable, bird cage dress form is from the late 1800's. She was a bit of a splurge, but is one of those unique items that makes a fun addition to a home. I currently have her dressed with my collection of pins and I think she looks charming.

Veranda Unveils the House of Windsor

"We partnered with designer Windsor Smith, who dreamed up a Los Angeles house that’s full of surprises: an entryway that doubles as a dining room, a master suite that makes those rushed morning moments a pleasure, a family room where everyone can hang out but do their own thing. Her architecture encourages happier living. We were also lucky enough to have designers Candace Barnes, Stephen Block, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Peter Dunham, Richard Hallberg, Kathryn M. Ireland, Paul Robbins, Richard Shapiro and Tara Shaw join the project. The result is an intersection of sophisticated execution and heartfelt ideas." Veranda Magazine

Take the 360 degree tour at Veranda Unveils . I love how well this home coordinates from room to room...not many designer homes do.

Ceilings

I can't believe I've missed a huge decorating opportunity...the ceiling! It's not like I forgot this 5th wall, I would love to paint my ceilings, but the amount of time and effort it would take makes me back away from the idea (I painted all the walls in my home) and truthfully I don't think my arms can take it.

So when I found these images of painted ceiling medallions...I thought, what a great way to get some color without a huge effort.

Also, I could skip the medallian and just stencil.

"Everything old is new again"

Last weekend was our local library book sale and every year I find some fabulouse books. My favorites are vintage design books...

Can you believe these books were published in 1960 and 1970? So many of these ideas are still fresh for today...painted furniture, animal skin rugs and room colors in orange, red and turquoise.

...and then there are some things that should stay in the 60's and 70's!
