Movie House

You may have missed the children's movie "Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer" based on the Megan McDonald's book series, but the interiors are adorable!

Yes, I often watch movies and televison just to see the interiors...

Eclectic Interiors

Phillip Jude Miller has created an eclectic vacation home in Maine. There’s no telling exactly how this Boston designer comes up with his inspired pairings, but his basic recipe goes something like this, "gently mix eclectic ingredients, add plenty of restraint, yield a deliciously homey kind of elegance".

Vintage Lamps

I have three items that I can't seem to get enough of when I'm out shopping for "home stuff". Mentally I know I really don't need it and possibly have absolutely no room for it, but the heart wants what the heart wants...I'm hoping having my shop will cure the clutter.

The three items are new pillows, vintage chairs and lamps. I've posted about my chair obsession in the past (have a few more to show later). The vintage lamp craze is a new obsession. Maybe it has been all the blog posts and magazine articles regarding "ugly" lamps. I happen to love "ugly" lamps (beauty is in the eye of the beholder).

I'm on the fence with these figure lamps, I keep thinking they would look spectacular with new shades and in the right setting...

My favorite style are these vintage glass lamps. I have seen them in amber, red, green and clear glass.

Here are few I've purchased to sell in my shop...

This one found a home in my living room...

Tole Painted Dresser

I bought this dresser last summer and it's been sitting in my basement waiting for a home. My family thinks it's ugly, but I think it's beautiful (a common occurance). So my son helped me bring it upstairs and we moved it into every room, trying to find a place for it...

no luck finding it a home...so it sits in my front hall. I don't want to sell it because I'm afraid I'll regret it later.

Now we will haul it up to the attic and use it for storage. Someday a spot will open up...

Does this happen to other people?!

Eclectic & Colorful Rooms

I like stuff! I'm always collecting and I can't stand to walk away from a great priced vintage item. Hopefully having my shop will keep my home from looking like an episode of "Hoarders".

My favorite decorating style is Vintage Eclectic (I don't even know if this is an official style). I'm always looking for images that show how to mingle disparate items with lots of color.

The following images have been in my picture files for a while.

Thrifting

I had a great time at the thrift stores this weekend...

This desk is going into the den once I get it fixed up and painted

Love the bamboo look of this mirror!

These chairs just need to be cleaned up and then I'm bringing them to my shop.

So...I bought a desk, mirror and two antique chairs for less than $50...a great thrifting weekend!

Holly Dyment

Holly Dyment  a designer from Toronto is widely acclaimed for her fearless use of color on walls, ceilings, floors, cabinetry, upholstery and accessories. She loves the dazzling and unusual combination of orange and purple, pink and red, or gray and lilac. I love her use of bold patterns teamed with bold colors.
