Lisa Corti

Lisa Corti is an artist born in Ethiopia now living in Italy. Her love of color and culture makes her fabric and ceramic designs rich and unique.

"Ask me about my work and I will tell you about my passion for colour, a love that has roots in far away lands, in my childhood in Africa. Women dressed in colour, only one colour, moved into the light as if gliding. Mysterious angels in cobalt pink, yellow, green, violet. I have always carried them within me. It seems incredible, yet that cobalt, that pink in the sun are something I thrive on. Then I discovered India. I found the essence once again in the sweet organza, the impalpable glossy coloured air, the fragment of a cloud to be touched and used. Pure colour that comes to life as substance, it is weightless and runs, cheerful and gentle, stopping at a central point. It winks and cannot be ignored. These are my tapestries.”

Local Home

I drive by this home often and was anxious to take a look inside. There is a vintage chair with the house number hanging on a tree (no image of this). Now that it's on the market I can snoop away.

Colorful Christmas

My Christmas decor is very traditional, everything is red & green. Some day I'll have a more colorful holiday home, but until then I'll just enjoy images like the ones below...

The Trunk

I found a trunk. I shouldn't be buying anything for myself this time of year, but when hubs said "you should get it"...I did.

I've always wanted one, but they are usually too much money or in total disrepair (I'm thinking about trying to restore one myself). This one's not perfect, but I like the quirks.

I'm using my trunk for photo storage, unfortunately I can't use it for a coffee table because of the curved top. Also I didn't take a picture of the inside but it's been redone in vintage wallpaper.

Modern Farmhouse

I wish I could find more images of this modern day farmhouse from Houzz. I like the simple clean lines of the white trim and the added vintage touch with the rough beams. The colors are subtle and warm (no white walls).

The pocket doors are a nice touch.

Lever door handles are more practical than knobs.

My favorite part of this home is how well done the exterior is. You can tell it's a new home, but the metal roof, window trim and landscape all have a vintage feel.

Multiple Chandeliers

I love chandeliers, so this multiple idea is fabulous.

I personally prefer the unmatched look and too many just look cluttered, but I'm filing this idea away for future use.

Reclaimed Barn Wood

What do you think of barn board ? I don't know if this is becoming a new trend, but I like the color and texture it adds.

Take a look at this nursery created for Jewel and Ty Murrey.

The reclaimed barn wood comes from Barnwood Naturals, specializing in sustainability.

"The materials we salvage are from area barns and buildings within a 500 mile radius from our yard in Salem, Oregon. We dismantle each structure by hand and document the history of the building."

This is one of those things that a little goes a long way, but it's a great way to add a little vintage farmhouse or barn to a home.
