Sofa Love

I found a vintage sofa that I would love to have in my home, the problem is I am the only one in my family that wants to change out our sofa...

I also love this retro sofa, it comes in 2 pieces and would look fabulous covered in apple green pillows...

but I won't be getting any old sofa in the near future...family wins this round, they just don't get it...but someday, just look as these beautiful sofas!

New Projects

I had a little time to go shopping this week and managed to buy a few pieces. I found a great frame with a not so great finish.

I plan on painting this a fun color and I know it would make a nice blackboard, but I have other plans...

These lamps look a little boring now, but I found a fun idea for the shades on Etsy.

I did manage to find something that I like just the way it is, a card file box.

I hope to share the outcomes soon!

Arcadian Home Decor Guest Post

Howdy! My name is Jenn and I'm a writer for Arcadian Home Decor, which is an e-commerce website that specializes in top home decor ideas from all over. Since graduating university I've been writing about home decor, and I love shabby chic wall art, modern table decorations, one-of-a-kind furniture, and anything related to interior design. My day begins with a Starbucks and perusing home decor blogs on my laptop, and one that I check out regularly is Vintage Farmhouse - Gayle's ideas are always inspiring and I'm really excited to be guest posting here. Thank you, Gayle!

Although they were popular pieces of furniture many decades ago, country sideboards and pie safes are also fun additions to home decor today. Used to store dishware, display home accessories, or stand beautifully alone, there's no shortage of uses for these great antique pieces. Here are eight lovely rooms with country sideboards and pie safes.

A side note
Country Pie Safe
The pie safe in this classic dining room pulls double-duty as a second tabletop, with table decorations and a fun chalkboard for the day's menu or a friendly note.
A showpiece
Country Pie Safe
A vintage pie safe stands proudly solo in this pretty set-up, with botanical wall art, mirrors, and a wall clock.
A stylish topper
Country Sideboard
An antique sideboard is complemented with a cupboard on top outfitted with a home bar - it's both functional and gorgeous.
Open for business
Country Pie Safe
A country pie safe features open shelving and a tray topper, perfect for a vase full of fresh blooms that are mimicked in the throw pillows on the couch.
Multi-functional gem
Country Sideboard
This dated sideboard has been painted in soothing sage green and has a myriad of useful nooks, from the pull-out drawers to the wine cubbies along with the shelves and baskets for stylish storage.
Built-in beaut
Country Sideboard
A country sideboard is integrated into these kitchen cabinets, keeping the room streamlined and visually interesting.
Cream-coloured chic
Country Sideboard
An eggshell-painted sideboard in this shabby chic white dining room looks sweet with an antique clock. The gold detailing in the table decor ups the elegant feel of the space.
The old and the new
Country Pie Safe
An old-fashioned pie safe looks fantastic despite its aged surface - it helps balance out the loud wallpaper print and throw rug of this nifty nook.

John Loecke Inc.

"Banish the beige and boring. Saturate your world in color-rich whimsy and sophistication. Most important, have fun with your home. We love glamour and style and are able  to bring that passion to the most contemporary of homes as well as the ultra-traditional. Frankly, we are all about the "F" words. Frisky, fabulous, and fun to be around." So say John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon of New York -based John Loecke Inc.

These designers do not do beige and boring. These rooms are so much fun, I love the colors and pattern overload. It is a little over the top, but I'm inspired to add more "fun" into my rooms.

Check out John Loecke Inc. to see more.

Lamps at Lowe's

We have been spending a lot of time at Lowe's lately...Hubby is building a shed, we need more space for STUFF.

He's doing a great job, the shed will match the house once it's finished and then
next spring we'll work on a window box and flower garden (the fun stuff).

Since I get so bored looking at building supplies, I've been roaming the aisles seeing what's new and I have been pleasantly surprised with the lighting department...

These fun little lamps are only $25

These floors lamps are under $70, I'm thinking about painting and distressing it??
Love this shade! I just wish I had more room in my home for lamps!
