Perfect Patterns

I like a variety of patterns in a home and geometrics are easy to mix. Patterns add so much personality and character to a room.

Also a couple of these rooms could use a little color on the walls...

Now it's time to stop looking and get working...I have chairs that need seats, side tables to paint, lamp shades to cover, touch up painting...

Vintage Farmhouse??

While I was surfing the web looking for design and blog inspiration,
I came across Pier 1 Fall 2011 sneak peak.

Coming soon. Unique vintage, vintage fashion, vintage furniture, vintage flowers, vintage posters, vintage pictures, vintage patterns, vintage art, vintage fabric, vintage aprons, vintage jewelry.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry...the funny thing is I have been taking a class for "starting a new business" to help write my business plan and my business description is:
"Vintage Farmhouse specializes in revamped furniture, whimsical home accessories, and one-of-a-kind lamps..."

Oh well, I'll have an easier time proving the idea will sell!

PS:I have a graphic designer working on my logo, I hope to be showing it soon;)

Great House on Houzz

Look at this great house featured on Houzz. I love the antique wood floors in the kitchen and the juxtaposition between the old and the new.

Ellen Hamilton

I found designer Ellen Hamilton in Traditional Home magazine. We have so much in common; a love for color, vintage furniture, and fun styled lighting! I also like how many patterns she uses in a room...and they don't all match. I have a tendency to want to match everything, but I'm working on it.

Suzy Stout

I am a little obsessed with this room! I love everything about it, the white board ceiling, antique wood floors, french doors, green walls, tons of accessories and a variety of furniture, zebra rug, chandelier, lamps...

This is the home of Suzy Stout, if you read Traditional Home magazine you've most likely seen her home. To see more of this gorgeous home check out 5th and State, and one more thing, it's FOR SALE!

Furniture Find

Last weekend our local hospital had a flea market fundraiser. I decided to check it out, not really expecting to find anything. So I was stunned to see this great vintage wing chair in almost perfect shape. I even love the upholstery, nothing needs to be done to it, it looks great in my home.

The price for this great find $40!

(please ignore the messed up green throw, my daughter took these pictures for me...)

Pop of Color

Since I have started painting furniture, I really love a pop of color in every room.

Farmhouse Dining Room

My Dining Room is finished...

The room just needed a little step up. I painted the cabinet and re papered the back. I thought I wanted a black background floral, but I realized this would be too dark. Also all the wallpaper I loved started at $50/roll. I only needed a small piece, so I didn't want to spend that much. I was at the Habitat for Humanity resale store looking at their paper, when the sales lady told me the store up the street was having a big sale...wallpaper on sale for $7/roll!! They didn't have a lot I liked, but I love this gold/cream damask print.

I was inspired to change my window coverings from this dining room picture I found in Country Living Magazine.

The home owner said she felt like these were "party dresses" for the windows.

I also painted the clock, someday I will find the perfect antique, but now I am in no hurry.

I like how the wall stripes and the plaid fabric relate, also one can never have enough pillows...

I did a little rearranging

added a couple of new thrift finds

and fresh flowers.

I am enjoying the updates, I still may add or change a couple of things...you know a room is never completely done;)
